Fr Januario Pinto is the latest Timorese Carmelite to become an Australian Citizen. Fr Janu is a member of the Carmelite Community at Wentworthville (NSW) and the Parish Priest.

The citizenship ceremony took place at the Holroyd Centre, Merrylands NSW on 30 September. Because of the small size of the hall where the ceremony took place only 1 guest per new citizen was able to be present. In Fr Janu’s case that was Fr Albino Dos Santos, also a member of the Wentworthville Carmelite community and parish.

Speaking about the occasion Fr Janu said, “I felt like I was being welcomed into another home. I feel a strong sense of belonging and commitment to my new home.”

Fr Janu is now a dual Timor-Leste – Australian citizen. Congratulations, Janu!
