Today (19 September) the General Chapter of the Carmelite Order elected Desiderio García Martinez, O.Carm. (from the Spanish Province of Arago-Castellae-Valencia) PriorGeneral for the next 6 years.
Also elected today were Frs Franciscus Xaverius Hariawan Adji, O.Carm. (Indonesia) as Vice General, Michael Farrugia, O.Carm. (Malta) who continues as the Order's Postulator General, and Christian Körner, O.Carm. (Germany) who continues as Bursar General. Our congratulations, prayers and best wishes to go these brothers.
Tomorrow (20 September) the General Chapter will elect Councillors General for the 4 geographic areas of the Order: Africa, Europe. the Americas and Asia/Oceanian/Australia.
