“Only a contemplative gaze can change our relationship with creation.”
— Pope Leo XIV

What does our growing understanding of the universe, the Earth and the evolution of life mean for our spirituality — and for the way we live?

The Eco-Spirituality Reading Circle, with Michael Murray, brings together people intrigued by the contemporary scientific story of the origins of the universe and the evolution of life, and those seeking to explore a spirituality that embraces this awareness and informs everyday living.

Together, we seek encounters with the Divine and the spiritual dimensions of life revealed through the world’s ecologies, natural environments, the challenges of climate change and the mysteries of space and time.

Through reading, self-reflection, personal prayer and group discussion, we engage with diverse voices from scientists, theologians, people of faith and people of goodwill.

In 2026, the Reading Circle is exploring The World We Have: A Buddhist Approach to Peace and Ecology by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Participants are invited to read and reflect on the nominated chapters before each gathering, providing a starting point for shared reflection and conversation.
